Welcome to Makubwa House, a traditional Swahili house located in Lamu Island, Kenya. Our holiday home is the perfect spot to discover the island at your own pace and immerse yourself in the Swahili culture. Makubwa House is located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is the perfect hiding spot for those looking for some peace and quiet.

Our home consists of 3 levels: at the bottom a traditional entrance with a classic baraza leading to the courtyard with your private plunge pool. On the second floor you will find the Master bedroom and a single en-suite bedroom, 2 beds in the gallery, the dining area and our equipped kitchen which you are free to use during your stay. On the upstairs floor enjoy the sun and the panoramic views of the town and the ocean, the amazing stars and the colors at sunrise and sunset or relax under the thatched roof while sipping on a glass of wine. There is also a bed in the gallery for lazy siestas or an extra guest. The second air-conditioned bedroom is also located here as well as a full bathroom.
