About us

At the corner of Shela Beach, shortly before arriving at the landmark Forodhani House and Peponi Hotel sits Kijani Hotel, a boutique island resort known for its intimate atmosphere, personalized service, and inviting design. Originally built as a private house, and later converted into a hotel, including a new wing, it blends Swahili architecture with lush gardens – all taking advantage of the unrepeatable view of Lamu, Shela Jetty and Manda Channel. Each of the 12 rooms is uniquely designed with traditional Swahili decor.

The rooms are spacious, with four-poster beds, Swahili furniture, and some have sea views. Throughout the hotel, you’ll find traditional Swahili furniture offering a perfect spot for an afternoon nap on your breezy terrace. There is a cozy onsite restaurant, serving fresh seafood, Swahili dishes, and continental cuisine. The much-liked rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of Lamu town and the ocean. To cool off those balmy tropical days, the pretty outdoor pool, surrounded by palms and tropical gardens, is a restful spot.
